Objectives of the Center
- To develop and teach under-graduate and post-graduate courses with indigenous perspectives on population studies and demography at various programs of NUST.
- To establish institutional linkages with leading universities nationally and internationally (including South Asia, Europe and North America) to engage in academic exchange, joint trainings, collaborative research, and mutually-beneficial dialogue.
- To produce and disseminate multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary research on fundamental population related research domains in Pakistan, including but not limited to education and health, vaccination, migration, food security, energy and environment, poverty and labor market, water and sanitation, standards of living, minorities and vulnerable groups, family dynamics, fertility and aging, life expectancy and mortality dynamics, population policies and programs.
- To evaluate the impact of existing government policies and programs about population and share data informed recommendations to policy makers at provincial and federal level.
- To develop awareness campaigns about the population and its implications for Pakistan through academic seminar, civil society engagement and advocacy campaign at provincial and national level in collaboration with provincial Population research centers (PRCs).
- To provide a platform for solution-based impactful research and discourse on population growth and population related challenges in developing world in general and Pakistan in particular.
